AIR COMPRESSOR RECEIVER TANK
Air
receivers, which are highly recommended in all compressor
systems, are used to store compressed air. Air receivers
decrease unnecessary compressor cycling, reducing excess wear
on the motor, control system and compressor airend. They
assist in separating entrained moisture and oil particles
from the air that comes from the air compressor or
aftercooler, and decrease dew point and temperature changes
after regeneration.
AIR RECEIVER TANK
Air receivers minimize the electric demand from
excessive motor starting, resulting in a reduction of energy
costs, while the added storage provided by air receivers
compensates for compressed air usages increases.
Wet air receivers have a large surface area that works as a
free cooler to remove moisture, reducing the load on filters
and dryers. They supply extra storage and assist with
removing contaminants in the air, stabilizing pressure and
reducing pulsation. Wet air receivers are positioned after
the compressor in the compressed air process.
Dry air receivers minimize any drops in pressure during large
air demands because of their sufficient capacity. By
preventing excess pressure drops, the dry receivers ensure
air dryer and filter performance isn’t compromised. Dry
air receivers are positioned after the air dryer in the
compressed air process.
All air receivers must meet or exceed the required ASME code.
Receiver accessories must also be ASME approved, including a
safety valve to protect against excessive pressure and a
drain valve to remove built up moisture.
